Too Good to Be True?
Well this is how I felt when I saw the company’s traditional media advertisements and awards claiming to have the most powerful job-search engine in the world. Like almost (if not) all potential customers, I used various social media applications to verify the company’s claims. Thus, I located a galore of negative consumer generated media (CGM) illustrating a large gap between the company’s promises and customer experiences. The few positive comments and video testimonials that existed also attracted intense scrutiny from the masses.
I also noticed that the company owners had an additional 15+ similar websites with various subscription models. It seemed that the company was using the CGM to improve its services by releasing subsequent websites which could explain why the 15+ websites existed.
You Got to Be Kidding Me?
As a result, I decided to try the service offered by its latest job search website to verify the company’s promises since it offered a 7-day free trial. On Day 1, I quickly noticed that the search engine could not search for positions using the keyword “MBA” like every other job search engine I have used. I forwarded this finding to technical support and was instructed to call customer service.
On Day 2, I conducted a search by a particular company and pulled up suitable opportunities; although I could not locate these opportunities on this particular company’s website. Once I attempted to apply to these positions, I was informed that the opportunities were no longer available. On Day 3, I submitted my cancellation request, it was approved, and I was not charged. In conclusion, I was disappointed because the company has a good business model but its service currently is not meeting expectations.
