The Variety of Jobs in Little Rock

Posted by Guest Author at 6th September, 2010

Like anywhere else in the world there are some strategies to finding and landing jobs in Little Rock AR. This is the biggest city in Arkansas and it is one of the best places to hunt for jobs in the state. Here are some steps you can take if you’re looking for a good job in Little Rock AR.

Step One: Spruce Up Your Resume

While you may have all the requirements for a particular position, your resume is a failure if the employer does not instantly come to the conclusion that you “have what it takes.” The first hurdle your resume has to pass–whether it ends up in the “consider file” or the “reject file”–may take less than thirty seconds. Some people think of a resume as their “life on a page,” but how could anyone put everything important about his- or herself on a single piece of paper (or two)?

Step Two: Prepare for the Job Interview

Being prepared can quite often make or break the interview. Preparing for the interview shows the employer that you are keen and organized. When asked about your previous work experience, try to stay positive. When in a job interview, think about how you can word things to put that all important positive spin on them. You may be asked to discuss what you know about the company. Prepare yourself by doing some research about the company. Doing this means you really want the job.

Step Three: Choose Evergreen Industries

Evergreen industries are professions that consistently seek talented professionals. Thus these industries will more than likely exist in most if not all parts of the country. Some of these professions include the medical and marketing fields. These tasks seek professions who can provide top notch, personalized services.

Let’s turn our focus to the medical field. For example, you can become an emergency medical technician, which uses special equipment like a backboard to immobilize the patient if they are seriously injured to the regular stretcher. You must learn a lot of interpersonal skills in the medical field.

You can choose to mix these two evergreen niches by landing a job in medical sales, like being an assistant in an optometrist’s clinic. The job entails working with patients to choose the best vision solution for them.

If you will look at Little Rock’s geography, you will notice that there are a lot of hospitals. You may want to consider a job as a nurse. As a nurse you will have to check the stats of the patient including the blood pressure, pulse, and respiration. Nurses are supposed to administer the drugs that are prescribed by the doctor, which means you must be able to complete a course in nursing education to apply for this job.
