A new year brings hope, optimism, and a fresh start for many individuals. We all have a desire to reach greater heights and create new goals. As a job seeker, finding a job is probably your New Year’s resolution. To help you achieve your job search goal, below are several tactics you can use.
The first step to acquiring your job search goal is to visualize your success. By storing these thoughts in your mind, you will subconsciously take the necessary actions to achieve your aspirations. Your efforts will spread to others who will buy-in to your vision. Afterwards, these individuals can provide encouragement and help you keep your passion when you encounter adversity.

You should write out your specific job search goal such as “I plan to land a corporate finance position within 60 days and within 30 miles of my home.” Also list the action items you need to complete to achieve your aspiration. For example, these actions could entail networking to uncover hidden opportunities and to generate referrals to hiring managers.
To stay motivated, you should include the benefits and consequences associated with your goal. Improving your standard of living could be a benefit for landing a job. Moving in with your In-laws is an example of a consequence for not reaching your aspiration.
You must stay disciplined and consistent during your job search, by performing your scheduled activities even when you do not want to. You must also stay committed to consistently completing these activities to the best of your ability. By doing so, you will move one step closer to your end goal.
There will be both ups and downs along the path to your success. When you encounter adversity, you must move forward since quitting is not an option. Some of the most successful people in the world faced distress before major success. As long as you stick to your plan and remain productive, you will succeed as well.
In today’s job market, it is important to make the best decision possible. You need to find a position and company that are ideal for you which could take some time. Likewise, it’s important to remain patient and not rush into a situation that you will later regret.
If you have not done so, I recommend you listen to Alan De Back’s “How to Find and Land the Job You Need Now.” This show was really good.
