Many dream of leaving their current jobs for several reasons: the pay is not enough, the work feels mechanical, the boss is not the greatest; to name a few. While it is completely reasonable to begin looking for a new job, if only to make some changes, moving on to the next step in your career is much easier if you are not doing it out of desperation. Re-engaging with your current job will give you the positive frame of mind necessary for making any sort of personal or professional transition. Here are a few tips for reviving your enthusiasm for a job that has gone stale.
When people say that they are dissatisfied with their jobs, it could be that they are simply dissatisfied with how they approach their job. If you feel as though your typical day at the office just is not working out any more, restructure how you get your tasks finished. Instead of checking email intermittently throughout the day, respond to all your emails first thing in the morning or an hour or two before you leave. Instead of taking an hour-long lunch break, take fifteen minute breaks throughout the day. Do whatever it takes to bring some variation to the work habits you have developed over time.
